Monero (XMR) News: Software Pruning And I2P Features Are Added To The Blockchain

We’ve recently reported that Monero will be holding a conference on June 22 and 23 at Denver, Colorado.

According to the Monero team, the conference is targeting all the enthusiasts of privacy who believe that this is a fundamental right.

Monero is in the spotlight again, but this time it’s about its efforts to enhance scalability.

The development team has recently added blockchain pruning to its software.

Blockchain pruning

This is a feature that allows users to optionally prune about 2/3 of the blockchain data while still contributing to the network.

An additional feature that is called I2P-zero has also been “bundled” with Monero as CryptoNewsZ puts it.

This allows users to use Monero nodes in a more private way by securing metadata and obfuscating the users’ IP address.

Things seem to be going good for Monero these days.

The online publication mentioned above notes that the latest RandomX protocol update and few fundamental changes in the security patched, and the auditing of the blockchain – all these will trigger enhanced interest and trust from potential investors.

Overcoming scalability issues

Not too long ago, the Monero (XMR) development team addressed the phasing out of long payment IDs.

These are reportedly not beneficial at all for privacy, and they are also a source for unpleasant user experience.

The team recommended an upgrade to sub-addresses soon, and CryptoNewsZ online publication addressed the issues and saw this as a positive step from the dev team in order to enhance scalability.

Other than this, Monero was also recently placed under the spotlight following a report by Reuters but which has not been received with open arms by the Monero Outreach community because it was focusing too much on illegal use of XMR and less on the coin’s massive benefits.

Monero Outreach responded with a whole new blog post titled A Response to Reuters and which was published on 20th May.
