Cardano (ADA) Can Now be Used at Over 1,200 Retail Brands

Brand new collaborations will see Cardano (ADA) available at more than 1,200 major online retail brands, such as Nike, Amazon, Airbnb, and Starbucks.

In an announcement on August 25th, EMURGO, a founding partner of the Cardano (ADA) protocol, said that it had signed a strategic partnership with Cardano payment processor Bidali in order to tap its digital currency payment solutions.

The collaboration with Bidali will have Cardano’s native digital coin, ADA, being supported at more than 1,200 online retail brands, including the aforementioned ones, as well as others via Bidali’s online gift card platform.

Driving ADA Adoption

The partnership makes it possible for ADA holders to tap Bidali’s gift card platform and partner ecosystems, such as a few exchanges and wallets, in order to buy name-brand retail gift cards with ADA. The alliance matches EMURGO’s vision of expanding Cardano adoption globally.

The collaboration with Bidali comes a few weeks another development where EMURGO revealed a partnership with OTA Travala, which enables ADA holders to book more than two million accommodations across the world via Cardano’s digital coin.

Commenting on the development, Ken Kodama, CEO at EMURGO, said: “EMURGO is delighted to increase the real-world utility of Cardano ADA and give ADA holders the option to purchase products from a wide spectrum of some of the world’s most well-known brands. We are happy to support Bidali and platforms, adding to the Cardano ecosystem with our resources.”

Similar views were echoed by Erik Ashdown, VP of Growth, at Bidali. He said: “Cardano is a very promising project. As we’ve seen blockchain and other distributed ledger technologies develop, Cardano is third generation technology that is now finally getting us closer to the performance, scalability, and cost-effectiveness required to bring the benefits of cryptocurrency to the mainstream and begin to solve some very large global problems. We’re very excited to be applying this towards the gift card space where fraud and lack of traceability are huge problems.”

After having successfully released its Shelley upgrade, Cardano has been spreading its wings to hasten the adoption of its native cryptocurrency. A Cardano-Shopify integration is also under development to enable ADA payments at over 500,000 online stores.
