Last week it was revealed that YouTube hit the crypto space really hard when a lot of crypto-related videos disappeared from the video-sharing platform.

Google brings back support for MetaMask

Since then, the problem has been fixed, but before this, Google also made a harsh move and stopped supporting MetaMask.

MetaMask crypto wallet and a mobile browser is backed by Ethereum incubator ConsenSys.

Google Play App Store was no longer listing MetaMask’s Android client according to the latest reports coming from the online publication the Daily Hodl.

Back then, Google claimed that MetaMask violated the financial services policies which prohibit users from engaging in crypto mining through mobile devices.

The MetaMask team reveals that Google lifted the ban. The crypto wallet service tweeted the announcement after having contested Google’s takedown on the grounds that the service doesn’t offer crypto mining.

“Upon careful consideration, Google has permitted the MetaMask mobile app back on the Google Play (Android) store!”

MetaMask’s development team added the following:

“This means we are now listed in all the major places we try to publish.”

The team also tweeted the following message: “Also thanks to all the suggestions for alternate distribution methods. This experience has made us more resilient, and as a community, we are stronger for enduring it.”

Followers offered complete support during all this. Someone commented: “After getting smacked in the head with a rolled-up newspaper by the PR department, Google carefully reconsidered their decision.”

YouTube reinstated content

It’s also worth noting that On December 27th, YouTube reinstated most of the content, and also made sure to highlight the fact that the takedowns were a pilot error.

It issued the following statement to crypto content creators, as cited by the Daily Hodl:

“Hey there, this was an error on our side during the review process – your video should be reinstated and strikes resolved. Let us know if you’re seeing otherwise!”
