Surprisingly, the Bitcoin (BTC) is more popular than many of us expected, according to a new study that revealed that 80% of Americans are aware of Bitcoin. The investigation also determined the level of popularity of 15 other cryptocurrencies, besides BTC.
While 80% of Americans heard of Bitcoin (BTC) and other cryptocurrencies as well, 49% of them said they never used cryptos. Also, 15% of the adults between 35 and 54 years old stated they wish they had bought Bitcoin (BTC) in the past but that’s already too late for them to start investing now.
Besides Bitcoin (BTC), the study also surveyed the popularity of Ethereum (ETH), Litecoin (LTC), ZCash (ZEC), Dash (DASH), XRP (XRP), Monero (XMR), Cardano (ADA), Stellar (XLM), NEO (NEO), EOS (EOS), NEM (XEM), Dogecoin (DOGE), Midseason/SafeCoin, Lisk (LSK), and Storjcoin X.

As expected, the majority of the respondents heard of Bitcoin (BTC), in a ratio of 80%, while only 13% were aware of Ethereum (ETH). Additionally, 36% of the respondents showed optimism regarding a broad cryptocurrency adoption in the future, while 34% stated they don’t see a future for cryptocurrencies.
A large number of the respondents, about 57%, stated that they would not use Bitcoin (BTC) over the US Dollar, the majority of them considering Bitcoin (BTC) transactions illegal.
The study also showed that men are more aware of Bitcoin (BTC) and cryptocurrencies in comparison to women. Only 16% of men did not hear about BTC, while 27% of the women were completely unaware of cryptos.
What’s interesting is that the majority of Americans heard of Bitcoin (BTC) and other cryptocurrencies, as well, but also a large number of them never used BTC. But that might change as increasingly more governments around the world are more and more determined to accept cryptocurrencies as payment methods and their blockchain technology for administrative purposes, among others.
