We all know that one of the most stringent issues that the crypto space has to deal with involves the security of your funds.
This is the main reason for which hardware wallets are gaining massive popularity.
Tech giant Sony is the latest massive name that develops a secure crypto hardware wallet.
Benefits of hardware wallets
A great thing about hardware wallets is that they’re offline systems that don’t have online portals.
This is a great thing considering that hackers have been mostly targeting online-based crypto wallets that are hosted on exchanges and more trading platforms.
If you have a hardware wallet, you basically hold your cryptos in an offline hardware device which is definitely more secure.
Sony crypto hardware wallet
Developers and researchers at the Sony Computer Science Labs (SCSL) built a device that uses IC smart card functionalities in order to connect to crypto networks like Bitcoin’s.
The wallet does not have to be connected to a host computer via a USB device in order to access the crypto network.
Users have the ability to generate a random and highly potent key via the secure module hard-coded into the IC card. This definitely enhances security.
The most notable features of the wallet created by Sony are its unique ones which cannot be found in other similar devices.
The wallet will have a range of other uses besides receiving, sending and securing cryptos.

For instance, it has an added functionality that allows the user to generate and manage private keys for other purposes besides crypto transactions.
These include user permissions for access to personal data when using blockchain-based technologies.
Sony says that “the new crypto hardware wallet is an infrastructure technology with multiple possible applications.”
This is not the first time when Sony ventures into the crypto space.
The company offered useful solutions before and it also patented a few ideas regarding the hardware used in the blockchain systems.
