Ethereym Upgrade Istanbul Goes Live; Boosts Performance And Scalability

Ethereum just went to a recent upgrade called Istanbul.

This implemented six different Ethereum improvement proposals (EIPs) which aim to enhance performance on the public blockchain.

More than that, this will also introduce new ways for developers to create smart contract-based Dapps.

According to the latest info coming from the Daily Hodl, developers have already delivered some Dapps which are available for free on the Apple or Google Play stores.

The ETH blockchain interoperates with Zcash

The online publication says that these include products and services across various industries.

The latest update allows the ETH blockchain to interoperate with privacy coin protocol Zcash.

This upgrade was a hard fork of the Ethereum blockchain and this makes it backwards incompatible which means that it will no longer support older versions of the Ethereum’s codebase.

A total of seven hard forks have been performed on the Ethereum network. They include Constantinople, Spurious Dragon, and Byzantium.

Istambul comes with six important updates

It’s also worth noting that Istanbul includes six major updates, as noted by the online publication the Daily Hodl. You can check them out below, as cited from the notes:

EIP-152 – Improves interoperability between Ethereum and the Zcash protocol, which helps enhance the former’s privacy features.

EIP-1108 – Aims to enhance Ethereum’s network performance and may allow for greater scalability.

EIP-1344 – Aims to  reduce human errors that can lead to loss of funds or relay attacks.

EIP-1884 – Aims to provide better resource management on the Ethereum network.

EIP-2028 – Aims to deliver higher bandwidth, thus achieving increased scalability.

EIP-2200 – Introduces new capabilities for smart contracts.”

It’s also worth noting that the regular user will not notice the benefits of this update immediately.

But, on the other hand, ETH miners and full-node operators have to update their clients to the latest version.

In terms of pricing, ETH is trading in the green at the moment of writing this article and the coin is priced at $149.67.
