The Tron community had a lot to celebrate these days and among the latest achievements is a higher number of wallets and the launch of TronGrid 2.0.

BitTorrent, BTT, and TRX

Tron founder and CEO just spoke about BitTorrent and the token BTT, and he made sure to answer to a question that a lot of crypto enthusiasts have been asking: why is BitTorrent Speed powered by BTT and not TRX.

Tron acquired BitTorrent back on July 24, 2018, and launched the BTT token on Binance Launchpad on January 28, 2019.

During the few weeks that have passed since the public sale of BTT which was a complete success, Tron rewarded the TRX holders with BTT in what was one of the most massive airdrops ever.

More than that, BTT managed to get listed on major exchanges and wallets in order to become available to more and more people.

When Sun was asked during an AMA session why BitTorrent Speed is powered by BTT instead of TRX here’s what he responded:

“The BitTorrent user base is huge (~100M MAU), so we can’t provide enough TRX to them bootstrap the economy without diluting the value of TRX. TRX is used as a utility token within the TRON blockchain. BTT is a utility token used to mediate the exchange of resources between users’ systems. Since BTT is a TRC-10 token, TRX and BTT are like a razor and a blade.”

He continued and said that it’s essential to give access to BTT to the Tron community and reward TRX holders.

He concluded by saying that the more successful BTT is, the more successful TRX will be as well.
